March Wish List

Guys, spring is so close I can practically taste it. The sun has been peeking out for a little bit longer here and there, and I’ve even dared to venture outside without a coat. Yep, I’m a daredevil. I just can’t wait for warmer temperatures and the cute outfits that come with it! I’m daydreaming of slouchy stripes, leopard accents, and pops of pink. Oh, and plenty of fresh flowers, of course!

Fall Nail Polish Pairings

Fall Nail Polish Pairings

black / gold glitter / pale pink / espresso / oxblood / ruby shimmer /

bronze / deep blue / forest green / eggplant

One of the best things about this season is the multitude of beautiful colors that come with it, both in the form of fall foliage and – more importantly – in the form of gorgeous nail polish. From lush earthy shades to brilliant metallics to dramatic reds and purples, it’s pretty much impossible to go wrong. But if you’re in need of some suggestions, here are a few nail polish combos that I adore. I’m really loving the black & gold look for Halloween!

What are your favorite nail polish shades for fall?

Summer Nail Polish Pairings

One of the many reasons I love summer so much is that I finally feel free to wear all of the brightest colors in my wardrobe, with great enthusiasm and often at the same time. From hot pink sundresses to turquoise sandals, getting dressed is just more fun at this time of year! That goes for my nail polish, too – I love mixing and matching vibrant hues, and finding the perfect complement to your pedicure in a pair of shoes is pretty much the icing on the proverbial cake. I honestly believe it’s tough to go wrong here (color loves color!), but if you need some inspiration, here are a few foolproof combinations.

Do you have a favorite summer sandal/nail polish combo? Mine is definitely gold or nude sandals with a fiery red-orange polish (Essie’s Hip-anema is the best)!

6 DIY Ideas for Beauty Storage

6 DIY Ideas for Beauty Storage // via South by Northwest

I’m lucky to have a relatively large bathroom in my current apartment, but my monstrous collection of makeup, nail polish and hair products tends to make the space seem smaller than it actually is. If I were to let it all run free and wild, not a speck of the counter would be visible. Fortunately for us all, the internet exists, and it contains a multitude of beauty storage solutions. I’m not terribly crafty, but these DIY ideas are totally worth the effort. Let’s get organized!

Hanging Beauty Baskets

Even if your bathroom is tiny, chances are you have some unused wall space. These hanging beauty baskets are perfect for stashing styling tools, brushes and hairsprays.

Mason Jar Wall Organizer

Mason jars are admittedly everywhere these days, but this wall organizer cannot be denied. It’s total rustic chic, and manages to make even cotton balls look appealing.

Floral Medicine Cabinet Magnets

Maximize your medicine cabinet space with these adorable floral magnets! All you need is a little bit of fabric, some glue, and a few magnets (obvi).

Frame Shelving

Much cuter than your average shelving, no? A vintage shadowbox frame would be perfect for this project, but you could use pretty much any large frame as a starting point.

Diptyque Candle Jar

Diptyque candle jars (and so many others!) are far too beautiful to throw away after the actual candle is finished burning. Learn how to remove all traces of wax so your candle jar is good as new and ready for a second life as a makeup brush holder.

The saddest part of having a massive nail polish collection is not being able to see all of your shades at once. (Am I right, fellow nail polish hoarders?) So who wouldn’t love a salon-style wall of nail polish shelves? This particular project may be a little beyond my DIY inclinations, but you can buy something similar at IKEA.
