May Wish List

Man, this year is flying by! May is already upon us, which is basically pre-summer. Or at least that’s how I like to think of it. I’m currently planning my wardrobe for my imaginary summer vacation to the Amalfi Coast. The dress code I’m envisioning is white sundresses, off-the-shoulder tops, sexy sandals, and the biggest, most glamorous sunglasses I can find. It’s going to be the best imaginary vacation ever! Meanwhile, back in reality, I’ll be dressing up in my vacation outfit and heading to the Italian restaurant down the street to sip wine on the patio.

I especially love #3, which is basically a lip gloss in a cocktail shaker. And I’m completely head over heels for those red sandals! What’s on your wish list right now? More importantly, where would you go on your imaginary vacation?

Spring To-Do List

Spring To-Do List

Apart from summer, spring is definitely my favorite season. Flowers blooming! The return of sandal weather! Puppies frolicking in the sunshine! (Can’t you picture the montage?) It’s tough to beat. While we may have briefly regressed to the chilly dampness of winter this week, I’m firmly in the spring mindset now and there’s no going back. These are the top 10 activities and experiences on my to-do list this season.

1. Bring home all the pink peonies I can carry

2. Catch a daytime Mariners game

3. Hunt down the perfect pair of nude lace-up sandals

4. Treat myself to a facial

5. Visit Molly Moon’s new Eastside location

6. Purge the heck out of my wardrobe and donate anything I haven’t worn in over a year

7. Do as much shopping as possible at my neighborhood farmers market

8. Take a cocktail mixing class

9. Hang the gallery wall in my living room (technically, this has been on my to-do list for the past eight months)

10. Plan a Memorial Day weekend getaway – Palm Springs, perhaps?

A Memorial Day weekend getaway in Palm Springs sounds pretty perfect

What are you most excited about this season? Do you have a spring to-do list?

April Wish List

Who else is overjoyed that spring is finally here? We had temps in the 70s in Seattle this weekend, and for a hot minute it almost felt like summer. It was glorious. I’m so excited to dump my winter clothes into storage and start wearing lighter, brighter colors again. Dressing for warm weather is just so much more fun!

I’ve been living in my lightweight army jacket lately, and the drapey version above offers a cool feminine twist on the classic. Other than that, I’m craving blush pink everything…I’m also a bit of a candle hoarder, so I’m looking forward to bringing out my springtime candles. Diptyque’s Figuier really embodies the freshness of the season. Sniff one and you’ll see!

What’s on your wish list these days?

Must-Have Spring Power Pieces

Spring Power PiecesSpring is here, so bring on the skirts, strappy sandals, and most importantly the brights and whites! I always find that dressing for work can be trickier during warmer months than the cooler ones. In winter I throw on a blazer over skinny jeans with a blouse and call it good. However, as temperatures warm up it can be challenging to toe the line between springtime casual and workplace professional.

Here are my three essentials for owning that lady boss style all season long.

THE WHITE BLAZER: A white blazer is the perfect transitional piece for the season. White creates a bold pop of contrast, helping you stand out from the drab masses.

LACE-UP BLOCK HEELS: Sandals can be challenging to pull of at work, as they often look a little too beach ready. Lace-up block heels are the perfect in-between. The lacing evokes a gladiator-style sandal, while the block heel dresses things up with a strong edge. No dainty kitten heel here.

COORDINATING SEPARATES: Often women adopt more masculine styles in the workplace to project an air of seriousness: power suits, starched collared shirts, monochromatic outfits. While I do love a good menswear inspired outfit, I also admire women who own their femininity in the workplace. The strongest women I know embrace their womanhood. Coordinating separates are a ladylike take on a warm weather skirt suit.

On a different note, I do want to let y’all know that I’ll be taking a break from the blog for personal reasons and will be less active on social media as well. Nothing dramatic, I’m just in serious need of some extra me-time these days. Thanks for understanding.

XOXO,
Jules
