As we all know, the zombie apocalypse is inevitable. It’s going to happen, and it won’t be pretty. The only real question is: will you be ready? Having a stockpile of canned goods and a crossbow at the ready is great, but what if you can’t make it to the nearest Sephora before it’s looted? These are the things I think about, guys. When the worst happens, it will be necessary to have some DIY beauty skills in your back pocket to fall back on. Here are five simple concoctions you can make virtually anywhere, whether you’re holed up in a dilapidated barn or you’re squatting in an abandoned prison (fingers crossed).
These delicious-looking tropical body scrubs will be especially handy for those of you who are in Hawaii when the end comes. You’ll have to mash up the fruit by hand instead of using a blender, but man, is it going to feel good to scrub the grit of the apocalypse off of your skin!
Showers will be a thing of the past, so knowing how to make your own dry shampoo is an essential skill in a post-apocalyptic world. My sister uses a formula similar to this one and she swears by it. There’s also a version of the recipe for light hair.
This lovely rosewater face mist will feel super refreshing after a long day of fighting zombies (or running away from them, depending on your personal style). Plus, it smells so good, you’ll almost forget that society has collapsed.
Staying hydrated is going to be tough post-apocalypse, and finding a good facialist will be pretty much impossible. But if you learn how to whip up this amazing mask made from avocado, honey & yogurt, your skin will thank you. (Plus, the leftovers are edible.) It’s insanely moisturizing and soothing. Apocalypse or not, this is probably my favorite beauty DIY of all time!
I admit, achieving perfect tousled beachy waves will likely be low on your list of priorities in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. But this sea salt spray is a pretty good dupe for Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, and will keep you from looking like death warmed over. Until a zombie bites you, that is.
Which beauty DIYs will you rely on during the zombie apocalypse? Also, who else really misses The Walking Dead already?

P.S. The best DIY lip scrub and a DIY caffeine serum for undereye circles!
What terrific style (& if course i’m totally referring to the writing here)!
BUT, if this zombie apocalypse thing DOES come along, I KNOW you’ll still be totally prepped for your “world tour”.
Ha, I would like to think so 😉 Thanks!
Love this post! I am pretty sure I am not actually that useful during a zombie apocalyps, but it will be comforting to know I have kept my skin in excellent condition before dying a horrible death 😉

Hahaha yes…that’s pretty much all we can hope for, right?? So glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, I miss TWD already too. Sigh… But this post? LOVE it! I like the Rose Water Face Mist idea — mask the bad odors with a pretty smell 🙂
Aw, thanks LaVonne! I agree – in such a scenario, nice-smelling products will be key 😉
Great products just in case!!! Will definitely try the dry shampoo – thanks for sharing!
Yay, I’m glad you found it useful! Let me know how it goes 🙂

Girl you had me cracking up and wanting to DIY my own facial stuff all at the same time. And that to me is an amazing post. I must now try to figure out how to make that rose water mist. Thanks for the link.

Ha thanks Kia! That was exactly my goal 😀 I need to try the rosewater mist too!
WOW I can’t believe I never even THOUGHT about the idea of DIY dry shampoo until this post. What a clever idea! The ingredients would be so easy to pull together — kicking myself for not discovering this sooner.
Thanks for the great round-up!

Thanks Ashley, I’m glad you found it useful! You won’t get as much texture as from an aerosol dry shampoo, but it’s cheap and super easy to make 🙂
Ha! Amazing. 🙂 Thanks for linking to my caffeine eye serum. 🙂
Thanks Kylie! It sounds fantastic, I’m excited to try it. Have a great weekend!
Ha ha, you’re so creative. Have you watched Fear of the Walking Dead? It’s not as good but it may curve your craving.
The rosewater face mist looks awesome!
I have watched it! Definitely not as good as TWD, but gotta fill the void somehow 😉
